How does miles of golden sands, gorgeous sunny weather and hundreds of bikini-clad women sound? Great, I bet. Well, you can head to just about any Caribbean and Mediterranean destination, but don’t you fancy something different?
What about a tropical paradise for that once in a lifetime experience? Although sun, sea and sand may be your priority, there is so much more to an island holiday.
So, whether you want to go on a safari, climb up a volcano, feed the sharks or spend all night at a beach party, these top island destinations should have you jumping on the next flight. Take a look at our countdown to see who makes it to number one:
5. Jeju Island, South Korea
For a tropical treat with a twist, visit South Korea’s smallest province, Jeju Island. The emerald green sea and spectacular sunrises alone make this trip worthwhile. Spend your time hiking up Mount Halla and see some of the world’s most unique waterfalls. For a bit of fun and eye candy, why not take a couple of scuba diving lessons?
4. St. Vincent, St. Vincent and the Grenadines
This gem in the middle of Caribbean really is paradise. Experience everything, from white sands and stunning landscapes, to getting involved in Jeep Safari tours and visiting the historic sites across the island.
St. Vincent is also famed for its music scene, so why not jet over for the Vincy Mas Carnival or Blues and Rhythms Festival?
3. Margarita Island, Venezuela
It would be hard to make a top five list without featuring at least one Caribbean island. The nightlife and friendly atmosphere are the two main attractions here, but the Pearl of the Caribbean offers much more than that. Swim with the dolphins, see the historical sites, explore the La Restinga National Park and even go on a day trip to one of the other isles – you won’t be disappointed.
2. Huahine Island, French Polynesia
Often referred to as the Garden Island because of its lush green foliage and mountains, this island is the ideal destination for any thrill-seekers. Forget scuba diving with the fish and swimming with dolphins, here you will get to feed the sharks! Adrenaline junkie heaven, Huahine Island is great for jet-skiing, kite surfing, sailing and helicopter trips.
1.Republic of Maldives
The Maldives is made up from over 1,000 islands situated in the heart of the Indian Ocean, making it an incredibly popular island destination. You will find breath-taking beaches, go diving at Banana Reef, watch a football match at Male Stadium and visit the Old National Museum, which was once the Sultan’s Palace.
