The Maldives: just the name evokes images of hundreds of tropical isles, lush tropical forests and pristine white sandy beaches surrounded by the crystal clear turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. The country is, in short, a holiday paradise and I for one am looking forward to a relaxing holiday in the Maldives later this summer. What I want to share with you now are some of the fantastic things that you could get up to if you are lucky enough to get the chance to journey to the Maldives. For luxury affordable deals to the Maldives try Emirates Holidays, they often have great offers.

In fact, I am so excited about my upcoming trip to the Maldives that I am already starting to daydream about what I will get up to once I arrive in the country. I’ve already had a few ideas of the types of things that I want to get up to. I’m sure if I spend much more time thinking about it this list will continue to grow and grow. Anyways, I digress. Here is my list of the four things that I am most looking forward to when I visit the Maldives in September.

After spending two weeks diving off the coast of Wakatobi, I can’t wait to see what the diving will be like in the Maldives. The tropical waters of the Indian Ocean are home to a rich and diverse underwater ecosystem. From the giant whale sharks that glide slowly through the oceans depths to the tiniest pygmy seahorses that hide in the nooks and crannies of the colourful coral reefs, there is plenty to see here. Unsurprisingly the waters around the tropical islands of the Maldives are some of the best in the whole of the world and whether you’re diving or snorkelling you are guaranteed to have an unforgettable experience.

Water Sports

The magic of the ocean doesn’t just happen under the waves, there’s plenty of fun to be had on top of them as well. There’s kite surfing, water skiing and the jet ski for the teenagers and young at heart. Finally a trip out to sea on a glass bottom boat is a great option for families with young children who are too young to try diving. Given that I’m yet to start a family, I am planning to try and learn how to kite surf, which is something that I have always wanted to try and do. I’ve heard that you can learn the basics of kite surfing in just a week, so I am hoping after two weeks I will almost be a professional 😉

Relaxing on the Beach

The best thing about a holiday is that you can forget all about your responsibilities. As this will be a holiday in the tropics I intend to spend as much time in and around the beach as possible. There’s something about the rhythmic crash of waves along an unspoilt golden sandy beach that just makes all thoughts of the office and work simply disappear.

Thoughts of the office and your work colleagues will evaporate as you sit on a sun chair catching the tropical rays with a cool fruit juice in your hand. In fact, the only thing you really need to worry about is how long it will take for the waiter to fetch your next order.

Spa Treatment

The perfect way to end any holiday has to be a bit of luxury pampering and there is nowhere better to do this than a spa. The best spas in the Maldives will offer you all the magic of the Orient. All I need to do is choose between a Balinese or Thai massage, some Chinese reflexology or maybe even Japanese Shiatsu; it will be a tough decision!
